Majid Al Futtaim’s City Centres give back to the community in the spirit of Ramadan
As part of Majid Al Futtaim’s regional initiative for the 6th consecutive year, City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum are joining hands once again to ‘Make a Difference this Ramadan.’ The month-long, community engagement campaign encourages people of all ages to participate in an act of compassion, by donating non-perishable goods and gently used essentials. Last year, community members donated over 10,500 items, which Dar al Atta’a then distributed to underprivileged families in Oman.
“The ‘Make a Difference’ campaign fosters the act of giving back to less fortunate members of our community, the core spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan. We encourage all mall shoppers to come out and donate gently used or new items to make this campaign an even bigger success than last year, with more families receiving support,” said Husam Al Mandhari, Senior Mall Manager, City Centre Muscat.
“Every year, we are impressed by the high level of participation and number of donations we receive from mall visitors. ‘Make a Difference’ is a major component of Majid Al Futtaim’s ongoing sustainability effort and partnership with the community we reside in,” said Watfa Humaid Al Harthy, Senior Mall Manager, City Centre Qurum.
Mall visitors are encouraged to donate their items at collection bins, which will be placed in each City Centre mall. Accepted items include everyday items such as non-perishable food (canned vegetables, dried dates and sugar), clothes, toys and other gently used items. All collected items will be donated to Dar al Ata’a, who will distribute them to the underprivileged families in the community.
To further enhance the spirit of Ramadan, mall visitors can enjoy an atmosphere of beautifully themed adornments that will decorate the mall. In addition, Al Wisal FM will be hosting a Ramadan show reporting live from both City Centres on several evenings following Iftar time. Alternating between City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum, interactive shows will keep residents up-to-date about activities taking place at the mall and invite them to share their memorable Ramadan experiences.
‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’ is a region-wide Majid Al Futtaim campaign spanning across 13 participating malls in 5 countries: Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates.
