In 1964, the Bose Corporation was founded by Dr. Amar G. Bose, professor of electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Bose's graduate research at the institute led to the development of new, patented technologies and, thanks to MIT's support and encouragement, was subsequently urged to found his own company based on those patents.
The first establishment of the Bose Corporation was that of the 901® Direct/Reflecting® speaker system in 1968. With the introduction of this system, Bose achieved worldwide international acclaim by setting a new industry standard for the possibility of reproducing lifelike sound. Bose has always and will continue to develop major technologies respected around the world. Award-winning products such as Lifestyle® home theatre systems and the Wave® Radio/CD have reshaped conventional thinking about the relationship between an audio system’s size and complexity, and the quality of sound it produces.
